As a teen moving to Lagos had to be one of the most difficult adjustments I'd ever make! Born last and raised in the heart of downtown Brooklyn, New York I wasn't really much of a tea drinker. My Yoruba parents were but it didn't grow on me until much later in life. In 2003, my mom and I moved to one of the most farm rich communities in Badagry, Lagos
I remember waking up to the sweet smell of freshly baked bread every morning, and my mum would prepare a small pot of black tea for us to have our breakfast with. As the years progressed, I grew to love my small town, and the fresh herbs and spices we produced locally. Tea became my passion and as my passion grew so did my palate for rich herbs and bold flavors.
After the birth of my daughter, I began to experience fatigue, tiredness, and loads of stress. The various types of tea blends I experimented with helped me to locate my center of gravity, soothe my spirit, and provided the energy I needed for those late nights with my newborn. I am a true testament to the healing properties of African tea and now I am here to share my favorite teas from home with you!
